Example 1
Find the 20th term of the AP: 3, 6, 9, 12, …
Solution:
Here a = 3, d = 3
aₙ = a + (n − 1)d
a₂₀ = 3 + (20 − 1)×3 = 3 + 57 = 60
Example 2
Find the sum of first 15 terms of the AP: 5, 8, 11, 14, …
Solution:
a = 5, d = 3, n = 15
S₁₅ = n/2 [2a + (n − 1)d]
= 15/2 [10 + 14×3] = 15/2 [10 + 42] = 15/2 × 52 = 15 × 26 = 390

Solution:
a = 7, d = 4

Find the sum of first 10 natural numbers using AP formula.
Solution:
Using Sₙ = n(n + 1)/2
Here n = 10
S₁₀ = 10×11/2 = 55
